Martin has been a passionate follower of fine chocolate ever since a chance encounter with Valrhona’s Guanaja in 1993. Since then an interest in finer, healthier food and a growing obsession with the origin and variety of fine chocolate converted him from a previous devotion to traditional British 'candy' products.

Martin is a web technology consultant, and along with colleagues started development of the Seventypercent.com website in 1999 to raise awareness of the quality and origin of the chocolate we eat, and to help the rediscovery of chocolate as a complex, ancient, beneficial and spiritual food.

In the last five years Martin has helped build Seventypercent.com into one of the principal online resources for fine chocolate - with reviews, an active community and online shop. He is also a consultant to the fine chocolate industry world wide.
